Background to the conference

EPFL is organising a conference entitled “Data Science and Mobility” in partnership with the Swiss railway operator SBB. This international event will be held at the SwissTech Convention Center on the EPFL campus on Wednesday, 31 January 2018 and will bring together researchers and decision-makers from the mobility sector.

Goal of the conference

The goal of the conference is to look at specific examples to find out what role data science has to play in tackling the challenges facing the mobility of the future. Further, we aim to identify knowledge gaps where additional research is needed and where researchers can play a part in supporting mobility providers. Researchers will therefore be presenting past and ongoing projects combining data science and mobility, while experts from the transport industry will share their requirements and vision. In four workshop sessions we will then focus on the specific needs of the mobility sector and some suitable approaches to meeting them developed in the industry and by researchers.
